This bird is an old world flycatcher. The males are black and white with a long tail the females are dull in color. It is seen all over the Indian subcontinent.The Breeding season is from march to July in India and march to June in south east asia. Males sing from high perches during court ship. The nest is build on trees or niches in walls. They line the cavity with grass. The female is involved in most of the nest building 5 eggs are laid in intervals of 24 hours, they oval pale blue green with brownish speckles the female does the incubation for 14 days..
