Capped Heron
I am posting 2 pictures. The first one (this one) has been processed very little-standard noise removal, standard sharpening, a slight crop. The next picture is a fairly heavily Photoshopped picture. Removal of branches, selective darkening of background, selective brightening of bird, along with increased saturation and vibrance of bird, selective sharpening of eye and beak. Who approves or disapproves? First, let me state this picture is for my own enjoyment only-it will never be entered in any competition or passed off as a SOC shot. We all process our shots to a degree, even if you shoot JPEG. So how much is acceptable to still refer to this as a photograph and not a graphic art work? Just curious.

You beat me to the start! I was going to pose that very same question in a future daily message. I’ll use these as example, along with some I’ve picked out. In a nutshell, I don’t have a problem doing enough pp to enhance the viewing pleasure of the bird. I don’t go overboard and sometimes I am just experimenting, but like you I don’t produce those images for anyone by myself.
