Hudsonian Godwit

Tranquil morning.

This beautiful Hudsonian Godwit was refueling in a flooded farm field in the middle of nowhere on a glass calm morning with the only noise being birds singing. I observed this bird feeding, preening and sleeping for about an hour. As my grandson would say, it filled my bucket.

What a gorgeous shot! The lighting is perfect and really brings out the texture and detail of the feathers.

Thanks Lin. I’ve been trying to get a shot of this bird for 5 years and finally lucked out with a cooperative bird.
