This is one of the only two hummingbird species native to the island of Roatan. The Ruby-throated Hummingbird is seen there as well but only when migrating through. I wish I had gotten some better shots of these hummers when I was there, but the lighting conditions were never quite right when they were around. Better luck next time!

I think it is a pretty good shot – stopped all the action, which is pretty hard for a hummer.
Thanks – I just wish it wasn’t backlit – their colors are so amazing but you can really only see them well in good lighting conditions
