This was the first Vireo of any kind that I ever saw, and when I first encountered it in my yard a year ago I had no clue what it was. My go-to place for bird ID is the Cornell Website but I got stuck there too because after I guessed it was some kind of Vireo or Warbler it was hard to decide which one because they are several that were similar. My last resort is the ABA Facebook Group What’s that Bird and they helped me with picking out the field marks that distinguished it from other birds in that family. I call it the Watercolor Bird because its soft, muted tans and yellows sort of blend together like a watercolor wash.
