There are a few bird species that have proven to be difficult for me to get a good photograph of. This is one of them. Red-faced Warblers are not uncommon, but have a very limited geographical range. SE Arizona in the “sky islands” is generally the most dependable spot in the USA to see them. They are typical warblers in that they like high tree tops, tend to flit and move a great deal and are often in difficult photographic settings (dark, shaded areas with bright highlights behind them). They are beautiful birds with a pretty song and often the locations they are in are beautiful, so it is not difficult to talk yourself into spending a number of hours trying to get a shot of them. This is one of better (not great by any means) shots I have.

Never heard of them before. So glad you posted this pic – I think I’ll make this a target bird next time I get out to that area. Thanks!
