A juvenile northern harrier chases a greater prairie chicken. The young harriers can’t resist buzzing the leks when so many birds congregate. Successful hunts by a harrier are relatively rare, an adult prairie chicken is almost the same size as the harrier. Many of the males would just duck when the harrier passed by, but if one did flush, the harrier was happy to give chase. Whether the harrier would know what to do if he actually caught one is anyone’s guess.
