Black-and-white Antbird

Paul Demkovich

In the Amazon Basin there are bird populations that are exclusive to islands in the rivers, so we visited several to locate species that could not be seen in the surrounding landscape. The islands are periodically submerged, and are covered with thick soft mud making tall boots a requirement. This Black-and-white Antbird was spotted on Ilha da Paciência in the Amazon River.
