Broad-winged Hawk – Birds of Prey

While walking along the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive we saw a Broad-winged Hawk perched on a telephone pole. After a few minutes the hawk swooped down into nearby bushes and captured a sparrow. It flew across the road, with the sparrow in its talons, and landed on a horizontal branch at eye level where it picked the sparrow apart.
