Harpy Eagle Juvenile

We stayed 3 nights at an Amazon eco resort called Cirandeira Bela. The story we heard was that many years ago the owner was considering selling much of his land for the development of homes. Local birders convinced him instead to leave the land intact. He focused his efforts on expanding the resort and encouraging birding groups to stay there during the week when business was slow. So today there are many acres of trails and a great variety of birds to look for including a Harpy Eagle nest. The Harpy Eagle nest was a long hike away from the lodges. We found this juvenile Harpy Eagle sitting on a perch near the nest, perhaps waiting for a parent to bring it a meal. (We never did see a parent arrive.)
