Large Hawk-Cuckoo

So Which is It?

Viewed 14 Times

This is a Large Hawk-cuckoo.  According to Wikipedia, it closely resembles the raptor Shikra in flight and when perched, thus the hawk part of its name.  It is in the Cuckoo family, with a long tail (not seen here).

A very interesting looking bird. The coloring of it reminds me sorta of a Cooper’s Hawk but the eye is definitely cuckoo. bird. Great shot.
