Unnatural Texture

This shot of a Green Kingfisher looks pretty good at first glance.  On closer inspection you’ll notice that the bird looks like a plastic model – it lacks texture.  The bird was a fair distance away on an overcast day.  As a result I had to crop it quite a bit and had to use Noise Reduction to eliminate the distracting noise.  As a result, the Noise Reduction module in Lightroom got rid of the noise but at the same time it smoothed out the body to the point where it looks unnatural.  At first glance a good pic but a second look shows it to be an unnatural texture.
