We were driving from Jacksonville FL to Naples FL when Sheila saw an e-bird rare bird alert for a small group of Upland Sandpipers at a sod farm near Kenansville, FL. So we aimed our GPS at the latitude/longitude location provided and drove to a sod farm along Joe Overstreet Road. One of the e-bird listings provided great directions on where to look – and we easily found five Upland Sandpipers with two Mourning Doves in the middle of a sod field. Upland Sandpipers migrate through Florida during the fall, but are a rarity during the summer, and were a treat to find!
