The Wood duck is the most beautiful water bird males are iridescent chest nut and green, with ornate patterns on every feather, the elegant females are delicate , distinct profile with white pattern around the eye. These birds live in wooded swamps where they nest in holes in trees or nest boxes put around lake margins, They have strong claws they can grip or perch on branches. This bird is mainly seen in north America. The breeding is done in January , the ducklings jump down from the nest tree and make their way to water. The mother calls them to her but does not help them, they from height of over 50 feet without injury.
