Raptors Meet and Greet

GreatBirdPic member Bob was taking BIF shots of a couple of raptors in Star, Idaho.  First he saw a Red-tailed Hawk.  Note that the red on the tail is on top, so in this case the sun is shining through the tail, illuminating the unseen red feathers.

Then Bob spotted a magnificent Northern Harrier Hawk.  The harrier’s face more resembles an owl than a hawk.

Well even though Idaho has lots of big sky (I know, that’s Montana; give me a break) the two couldn’t stay away from each other.  They swooped back and forth near each other, crying out their alarm calls.  No harm was done and territory was established.  Well done, Bob!
