Dear GBP members,
The GreatBirdPics.com website continues to be infested with bugs! These occurred as a result of a security update, however as part of up the update many of the plugins that were used to create the site 9 years ago were also brought up to date. As we have found, the new versions of the plugins don’t function the quite same way. Imagine using the same iPhone for 9 years without updating any of the Apps and you get the idea.
Many members have been kind enough to identify glitches they have come across and these have all been reported to Appnet’s Tech Support. Below is that list – please review and if you know of anything else that isn’t working properly please let me know by replying to this email.
- The ability for members to enter comments on each individual photo page is now missing.
- Selecting Seach/Latest Pics takes you to the expanded version of the photo page for the last image uploaded. It currently acts like the Random Pic feature (small thumbnails at the bottom rotate to the next image after 5 seconds). Selecting Search/Latest Pics should take you a page of thumbnails with your pics in order in which they were uploaded. NOTE: you can go to the thumbnail page from the expanded image by clicking the ESC key. Once you access the Thumbnail page everything seems to operate properly!
- The Load More button is missing from the bottom of each members’ My Flock page. Clicking this loads more thumbnails in chronological order in which they were uploaded.
- Blog posts are not accessible by clicking on them.
- Scrolling between images in My Flock is still not working properly. Navigation buttons take you to another photo of the same species that same person uploaded. It should go to the next chronologically entered photo.
- Search/Search All – when selecting Author it brings up correct thumbnails. Click on a thumbnail it doesn’t go the same species by another author. When selecting Species, click on a thumbnail and then Navigation simply rotates between the next image and back to the one you originally clicked on.
As far as I can tell you can still upload your GreatBirdPics to the site. Thanks again for you patience as we identify the problems and get them fixes as quickly as possible.
Mike
