South Africa Teaser

I didn’t want you to think I’ve forgotten about you loyal GreatBirdPics.com members, but time has been limited because of more travel.  Yes, after three weeks away in South Africa we came home, did the laundry, and then left for Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  My grand-niece Harper (whom I hadn’t met yet) celebrated her first birthday on Saturday.  It was a great way to catch up with my sister, brother and niece, Lindsay (Harper’s mom).  We also met her husband Caleb for the first time and some of his family.  It was a wonderful celebration and way to connect names and faces.

In my spare moments (usually around 5:30 AM, thanks to jet lag) I have been slowly working on the 10,000 shots I took in South Africa.  I’ve actually post-processed the first three days we spent in Cape Town before the tour and the first three days of the tour – only 7100 more shots to go!

During those first three days on our own in Cape Town we took a wine tour through the famous Stellenbosch and Paarl regions and enjoyed some excellent wines.  After experiencing a wine and chocolate pairing at La Bri Winery I walked back toward the vineyards and spotted a Pied Crow gliding overhead.  Even though It was a wine tour I always carry my birding camera and snapped this shot of the bird as it flew over the grape vines.
