Our New Zealand Naturalist Rebecca Bowater often posts about when the Bar-tailed Godwits arrive in New Zealand after flying all the way from Alaska. Recently she was observing some of the Godwits and noticed a couple had bands on their legs so she magnified her photographs as much as possible to discern the colors and order of the bands. She was then able to look up some very interesting information about the ages and migration route of these two birds. Click on each picture and read the Description about her findings – fascinating!
