Not long ago Birding Buddy Mark (not that one, the other one) was kind enough to let me know that a juvenile Red-morph Screech Owl was in the owl box at Seager Park.  It’s been over a year since we saw an owl there so I wanted to check it out; Mark suggested going late in the afternoon so I went there about 6 PM.  Sure enough it was there!

I took a couple of pictures and wanted to send Mark one but I had a hard time deciding which one was better.  Take a look at these two almost identical pics and let me know which one you think I sent.  You might want to look at the pics on a larger screen (not cell phone) to see the subtle difference.

Do you see any difference?  Let me know which one you like better by replying to the email or making a comment in the blog post.

His left eye is more open in the second picture.

I would pick the 2nd photo as it appears slightly sharper than the first. It is a very close call and I had to really enlarge the 2 to see a difference.

My guess is picture 1!

the 2nd one – the wider eye was the deciding factor for me .
