Welcome back to another thrilling Which One Wednesday where you get to choose the best of three pictures. Today a Silver-throated Tanager I took in Costa Rica in January, 2026. Silver-throated Tanagers are fairly common throughout CR and are always a crowd-pleaser. Your job (should you choose to accept it) is to look at the three images below and decide which one you like best. All three contain the same image but they have been cropped progressively wider and wider. There are lots of interesting plants to see growing on the limb it’s perched on and the bird itself is in pretty good focus. What you have to decide on is if you prefer a closeup of the bird (Image 1) or one of the wider shots that make the bird look smaller but include more of the perch. You decide and then write your selection in the Comments section below, and please add a comment about why you liked your choice best. Results announced next week.
