Last week I shared the following three pictures of a Roseate Spoonbill landing in a shallow lake at the Orland Wetlands and asked which one you liked best.
Shot 1
Thirty-three percent of the respondents said they liked Shot 1 the best. Paul D. liked the head and wing position. Bajadreamer said he also liked the wing position the best, and noticed a drop of water falling from its feet. Ron Zigler focused on the head position of the bird and noted that in Shots 2 and 3 the head is more or less straight on, whereas in Shot 1 the head is to the side which us better look at it.
Shot 2
Shot 2 had the least number of votes, with 23% saying they liked this one the best. Kathleen B. liked that the bird was still in the air with outstretched wings. WildZ noted the detail in the underwings and that the feet were just about to touch the water.
Shot 3
Shot 3 had the most number of votes (44%). Many commented on the outstretched wings and the reflection.
As for me, I liked Shot 2 the best. I like all that detail in the underwings, which you don’t get in Shot 1. I like the timing of Shot 2 as it’s about to touch down. If you just saw Shot 3 without the previous two you wouldn’t know if the bird was flying in or just stretching its wings. A tough call, so no wrong answers but hopefully reading about what others saw in the pictures will help you see your Great Bird Pics a little bit differently.
Thanks again to all who responded. Another Which One Wednesday coming next week.
