This guy looked like he was having kind of a rough day. It appeared he might have had an injured leg, and had I not been in a foreign country I might have tried to contact a rehab. Birds can survive with one leg, however, and his wings were working just fine because he flew off shortly after I shot this photo. Hope he will be okay.

The Royal Tern does not appear to be on a sandy beach like I’m used to seeing them on in the Carolinas and Florida. Perhaps just dark brown sand?
This was kind of a lagoon area at the mouth of where the river flowed into the sea. The sand was different than on the seashore itself, plus I think the low morning sun was giving it a dark golden hue.
