Baltimore Oriole

One for the girls

Viewed 18 Times

Generally, when trying to photograph a specific species of bird, the photographer wants to get an image of a male in full breeding plumage. These are usually the most colorful members of the species. This picture is totally different. It is a female Baltimore Oriole, certainly a bird with some beauty, but the primary thing that told me to push the shutter was the perch. Taken in Costa Rica. Very little processing; bird slightly brought up and BG brought slightly down.

Just a beautiful picture of the female Oriole! I agree the perch helps make the pic. GreatBirdPic!
