During the winter months, the bolivar flats sanctuary on the texas coast is filled with thousands of shorebirds. A walk out onto the mudflats during low-tide can be very productive.

Shorebirds, and the Western Sandpiper in particular, are so tough to ID. This is a great shot of one that I can study.
