Several of these birds winter in the US every year, usually at Bensten Rio-Grande SP or Santa Ana NWR. These unique looking birds use their hooked bill to feed on snails.

You would think that the Hook-billed Kite would be a fierce predator with that beak – snails, indeed! Such an interesting head and body colors. GreatBirdPic!
