Red-bellied Woodpecker
We often hear Red-Bellied Woodpeckers without seeing them. When we do see them, they are usually flying overhead or across an opening, or on the side of the tree with their back or side visible. We were surprised when this male land on the top of this leafless upright tree with his belly showing as we were walking through Stu Visser Trail. This is the most red we have seen on a Red-bellied Woodpecker.
