A flock of short-billed dowitchers taking a rest stop in the tidal marshlands of the Oyster Rocks Preserve on their long “molt migration” to the Hudson Bay in Canada. Coastal Delaware is known as a hotspot intermediate area for the “brownback” (nickname given to them dating back to colonial times) molt migration and you can note that these birds already have molted to their breeding plumage.
