I knew of a spot that had a few northern shovelers frequently visit, I knew I wanted a closeup photo of one, but hadnt been so lucky. I found a nice spot and laid down and eventually even army crawled to get to the best spot. My legs were soaked in stinky bog water, but the sun was warm and the bog plants I was laying in were comfortable. While waiting for a shoveler to get close, 3 canadian geese got within 5 feet of me, I thought they were going to attack me! But they were just checking me out. Finally after an hour of sitting, this male started getting closer, and closer, until he was right there infront of me. He then started to preen himself so I got ready. And then the moment I was waiting for, he flapped his wings and I took the shot.
