Swallow-tailed Gull

I Keep My Spots While a Juvenile (Water Contest)

Viewed 2 Times

While on the boat in Ecuador we were able to get great looks at the adults and I was able to capture a photo of this juvenile Swallow-tailed Gull.

This Gull is endemic to the Galapagos flying long distances for food. The large brown eyes help them see fish and squid just under the surface of the water while flying high above in the sky. They are the only nocturnal gull that at night preys on squid and small fish that swim to the surface to feed on plankton.
