
Short-eared Owl
We spent 8 days in the Galápagos Islands traveling to 10 islands looking for the specialty birds on each.
We saw thousands of Wedge-rumped Storm Petrels flying over their breeding colony on lava flats on North Seymour Island. While searching for the Short-eared Owl target bird, we spotted this pair of owls flying and interacting together in the midst of the flying Storm Petrels. We were not certain if this was an attempt to steal prey, a territorial dispute, a courtship activity or something else…
