The Notorious “R2D2” bird

After the tidal wave of spring migration was mostly over I headed to the grasslands to look for this lifer which I had been told has a song that sounds like R2D2 from Star Wars. I couldn’t believe it but the legends were true and I was instantly enamored with the little beeps and twirps that floated over the prairie. Most of the birds I spotted were near the horizon, but luckily this one landed in the tall grass fairly close to the trail and allowed me to get a very nice look at it.
