A week before Halloween this Great Horned Owl showed up in my yard. It was the first time I’d seen one in the yard, and the first time I’d ever seen one in the day time. As is typical the owl was being mercilessly pestered by four or five crows. A few months later I saw one again in the yard and was able to get some better shots (without a branch dissecting its eyes), but I kept this one because I thought the photo-bombing flying crow silhouette behind the owl was a fun image for Halloween.
