Band-tailed Nighthawk

Paul Demkovich

There are two species of Band-tailed Nighthawk living in the Amazon Basin that are differentiated by their call. We heard them and saw them flying several evenings and early mornings. This one chose to land on a log in the woods as we were hiking past. After a few moments, it flew off to find a quieter perch.
