Rose-ringed Parakeet

Excuse me, did you ask for my permission to take that photo?

I leaned in with the Sony α6000 and Sigma 100-400mm, and this Rose-ringed Parakeet bent down, locked eyes with me, and gave me the ultimate side-eye! Pretty sure he’s preparing to send me an invoice for model fees. The golden light filtering through the trees at Victoria Memorial made his vibrant feathers pop, but that intense gaze completely stole the show!

Camera: Sony α6000
• Lens: Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS
• Location: Victoria Memorial Gardens, Kolkata India

Great shot Sandip!
There is a population of these living in Belgium and The Netherlands. All descended from captive birds. The big push was in the 70’s when an animal park set free about 50-odd birds inside the park … but they didn’t just stay there, unsurprisingly. Have been trying to get a decent shot of one for a while.
