If you’ve ever heard a rhythmic tuk-tuk-tuk sounding like a blacksmith’s hammer in the trees, you’ve likely met a Coppersmith Barbet. I caught this industrious little bird completely absorbed in carving out its nest hole in a wooden branch. Watching the precise, repetitive chiseling motion up close was incredible. Using the Sony α6000 paired with the Sigma 100-400mm telephoto lens allowed me to stay far enough back not to disturb its work while capturing every bit of wood detail and those vibrant crimson-and-yellow facial markings!
