This is a bird that our guides searched for and wanted us to see. South of the Rio Negro, about 15 miles south of the town of Novo Airão, we hiked trails through the woods and into a gravel pit. After teasing us with glimpses and calls, the Ivory-billed Aracari flew out to a bare tree-top and displayed for several minutes by rocking back and forth while calling.

What an unusual bird. Great capture. Love that bill. What does it feed on?
Thanks! It mostly eats fruits from the jungle trees, but will supplement its diet with insects, lizards, eggs, etc.
