Although the Wind Turbines questionably kill many birds, the Wildhorse Wind Farm along Old Vantage Highway in Washington has preserved a large tract of sagebrush/shrub steppe habitat. It is usually good for Brewer’s and Vesper Sparrows, Say’s Phoebes, Sage Thrashers and sometimes Loggerhead Shrikes among others. On Friday a big surprise was a pair of Chukars. Certainly appropriate in the habitat but perhaps the furthest West I have seen them.
