During spring and fall migration Bonaparte’s Gulls can be seen at Holland State Park sometimes in large numbers. September 2025, this first-year bird was spotted amongst other Bonaparte’s Gulls. It is not often I am able to take photos of birds in this unusual flying/diving position. This bird was on his way down to the surface of the water for something it saw from above.
